The Illusion of Shame, A Photo Diary

Rita James: INSPIRE + ILLUMINATE + INTEGRATE. FEMME INSPIRATRICE. Rita grew up in Los Angeles, CA. She offers support and guidance for women to embody their complete essence by unraveling layers of conditioning and revealing their very own wisdom woven within. Rita had to unbecome, and unlearn years of conditioning and patterning due to a dysregulated nervous system. Becoming again, starting again, falling down, embodying the new, and integrating her to this very moment. She has been on the edges of zen and zen on the edges.  Remembering the bittersweet reality of heartache and tenderness and allowing them to coexist inside of her always.

When Rita isn't embodying emotions...you can find her hanging with her adult kids, doggos and The King of her Heart, her husband David.

About the Photography: Photos taken by, James Alvidrez (OG BillyTheKid). This photo embodiment series depicts the raw edges of emotion felt while grappling, and confronting the anguish and pain of our shame stories.  Leaving the viewer to be moved or consoled in an attempt to feel our humanity.  Bringing us closer together rather than further apart. Realizing our stories create separation, which is the greatest illusion of all.

“Shame sat down beside me today, I let her in.  I allowed her to pour her heart out onto me, I gave her story somewhere to go, somewhere to live externally, for a story shared is a story healed. - Rita James
